I hope everyone enjoyed their break!
School starts back up on Monday.
We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Tuesday, February 25. I have asked the students to bring in a collection of 100 things for that day to share with the class. Please have your child count out 100 things and help them if necessary. It could be anything from pennies, to rocks, to cereal. We will be doing a lot of counting on Tuesday so please review with them counting to 100 over the weekend.
Also, students are welcome to come dressed like they are 100 years old on Tuesday. Pull out the curlers, nightgowns, old suits, and walkers! I have got my outfit ready to go and can't wait to see everyone else's!
We are trying to raise funds to build a courtyard at our school that will be used for a reading area. Forms went home a couple weeks ago to sign up to buy fresh fruit for our fundraiser. The "Healthy Choice" fundraiser forms are due on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
On Tuesday evening there will be a Parent Meeting for our Dare to Care Program from 6:30-9:00. It will be an amazing presentation on bullying and well worth your time. The presenter is so good and I highly recommend that everyone attends.
On Wednesday we will be having our "Dare to Care" Assembly for students in the morning. It will also be "Pink Shirt Day", so please have your child wear a pink shirt on Wednesday to show support of anti-bullying.
Before the break (that feels like so long ago!) we had an Olympics Day. We took a break and had some "speed skating" competitions in our classroom. The victory pictures are hilarious!
We did some "Sweetheart" math this week where students had to count, add, pattern, graph, and tally their sweethearts.
Before the break we had our Valentine's Day Party. It was so nice that it fell on a Friday! I started the day by bringing a big bowl of candy out. Students immediately became suspicious as they remembered the "Candy Corn Bandit" from Halloween that stole our Halloween candy. They were correct in their suspicions as they discovered their candy missing after recess. The "Sweetheart Snatcher" had visited our classroom! We then went on a chase around the school, students being leery of everyone we encountered. Luckily, the Sweetheart Snatcher had left our candy in the gym and all was fine!
The food for our party was so delicious (thank you to Maddie's, Isabella's, Brenna's, Addie's, and Trysten's families!) and I was happy to fill kids up with something healthy before they dug into their Valentine treats! They had a blast going through their Valentine Eaters.
Enjoy the last few days of your break and I will see all you kiddies Monday morning! :)
