Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all have a safe and wonderful holiday. Here is my present to you: The kids singing "A Bug's Christmas" where you can actually see all of them. Hopefully it works, I tried two different formats!

See you January 6th!

Quick Note about the Christmas Concert

Students need to be at the Cultural Hall at 6:00 tonight, ready to go in their costumes. I am telling students to wait on the bleachers after the concert is over and their parents need to pick them up there.

Christmas Concert and Party

One more week until Christmas! We had so much fun this last week going on our field trip to the Galt Museum. We also went skating for our second time and I can't believe how much they have improved in just one time! We are continuing to learn about the H Superheroes in our Reading Skills. Students should all have the new books (unless your child is reading chapter books) in their yellow pocket folders. They can keep reading these books until the new year.

Just a reminder that our Christmas party is on Friday. Here is the list of assignments:
Amber-veggies
Sierra-treat
Haylee-crackers and cheese
Lesha-meat
A.J.-fruit

The Christmas Concert will be on Wednesday at 6:30. Here is what students can wear for their costume for our class (this is just a suggestion)
yellow shirt
black pants
headband
mini flashlight
sunglasses
antennae's (headband with pipe cleaners and black styrofoam balls)

We will be having a dress rehearsal on

Wednesday, so please send your child to

 school with their costume on.

Here is a letter from Mrs. Vereschagin  regarding the Christmas Concert.

Dear RES Parents,
I'm not sure what information has been sent out regarding your child's Christmas Concert Costume, however I am aware that there is some concern and frustration. Hopefully I can clarify some of the confusion.
First of all, the list of costume ideas that you may or may not have received are only suggestions. A place to start so to speak. It is not necessary for every child to dress exactly as the suggestions stated. If you do not have the specified colour shirt or pants then that is perfectly fine. Choose something you do have and turn it into a costume or leave it as is.
I am NOT asking or requiring any parent to go out and purchase any type of outfit or accessory that may be impossible to find or you know your child will never need again.
I do ask that your child try to find a flashlight as one song has light choreography and if your child has sunglasses that's great too. Your child could arrive wearing their Sunday best and I will still be excited to see them perform at the concert.
I know that this time of year can be a hectic and I apologize for any of the confusion and any inconvenience. I hope this clarifies some of your concerns. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to emailjulie.vereschagin@westwind.ab.ca.
Musically Yours,
Julie Vereschagin

We got an additional time scheduled for skating! We will be going this Thursday from 11:00-12:00. If you can help out or would like to come skate with your child, please come!

I think that's it for updates and info for this week!

Skating, Christmas Party, and Field Trip!

I can't believe this week was only 2 days of school! We crammed enough fun in for a week at least. Before all the fun stuff, here's what you NEED TO KNOW for the next bit.

Our field trip has been moved to MONDAY, DECEMBER 9. We will leave and return at the same time (9:45-noonish). If you can still volunteer, please comment below or send me a quick email. If we can't get enough volunteers I might be able to convince my husband to join us so it's important I know beforehand who can come!

We will be skating for a second time on Wednesday, December 11. Thank you to all the parents who came and helped tie skates. If you can come this time, we will be at the ice rink just before 1:00. If you would like to skate with your child, you can borrow a helmet from the school if you need to.

The Christmas Party will be on December 18 at 5:30 p.m. Students can wear their costume there and just a reminder, students are responsible for their costumes.

Our class Christmas Party will be on Friday, December 20. Here are the assignments for the upcoming party:

Amber-veggies
Sierra-treat
Haylee-crackers and cheese
Lesha-meat
A.J.-fruit

We have been doing one of my favorite units "Holidays Around the World" for December. We will be learning about Germany on Tuesday and talking about nutcrackers, and I told the kids that they could bring a nutcracker to school that day.

Ok now the fun stuff! This week we have been learning about the "H Superheroes"! There is CHarlie, WHitney, SHeldon, THeo, and PHoebe. Please ask your child to explain the superheroes to you along with their powers because its hilarious. We made superhero glasses to help us find superhero words around the school. Bonus: the glasses help you read the words better!

We went skating on Wednesday and the kids melted my heart into a puddle. There were so many that just could not stay vertical but they had the best attitudes! The best part was watching Brenna and Lesha team up to help Sierra. Such sweet kids!

Have a great weekend and try not to freeze!!
